Annual Meeting
September
The Annual Meeting kicks off the Chamber year with an awards ceremony, passing of the gavel, and a “State of the Chamber” view of the year to come. Considered the Chamber’s marquee event, the Annual Meeting is held the fourth Thursday every September. There is a charge for the event.
Business After Hours
Year-Long Series
Each month, a Chamber business hosts at a Business After Hours, and the Chamber sends nearly 2,500 invitations urging both members and non-members to attend. To drive attendance, the Chamber offers a cash door prize, and if no one wins, the pot grows by $250 and is rolled over to the next month.
Business Expo
Spring
Taking its cue from successful business expos in surrounding communities, the Chamber plans a “business-to-business” event for early spring.
Chamber Update
Year-Long Series
Each week, the Chamber sends out an e-mail reminder calendar to over 2,500 contacts throughout the community. The sponsorship will feature a banner ad on the e-mail flyer each week.
Krab & Karaoke
August
The Chamber’s annual Krab and Karaoke is a marquee social and networking event.
Economic Summit
November
Each year, the Chamber co-hosts an annual Economic Summit with the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission. The event features dinner and a presentation by Anirban Basu the Chairman & CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc., an economic and policy consulting firm in Baltimore, Maryland.
Eggs & Issues
Year-Long Series
Eggs and Issues is a monthly breakfast speaker series focused on Economic Development. Topics range from tourism to infrastructure to energy and feature speakers with expertise or unique insight into Washington County business community. There is a charge for these events.
Golf – Commerce Cup Golf Tournament
July
The Commerce Cup is one of the Chamber’s premier networking and social events. With all the trappings of a benefit tournament, the Commerce Cup gives golfers an excuse to get out on the course and support the Chamber. There is a charge for the event.
Golf – Golfing for Non-Profits Challenge

With all the trappings of a benefit tournament, the event gives golfers an excuse to get out on the course and support the community. The Chamber gives a significant portion of the event’s net income to a local non-profit.
Government Forums
Year-Long Series
Every year the Chamber hosts a number of breakfast meetings to give local governments and the state representatives an opportunity to report on their individual achievements and goals.
Learning Lunch Hour Series
Year-Long Series
The Learning Lunch Hour Series is a series of monthly lunch-time presentations on areas of interest to Chamber members. Members can engage in interactive discussions. There is no charge for these events, but attendees can order off a Prix Fixe Menu.
Savvy Managers Book Club Series
Year-Long Series
The Savvy Managers Book Club is a series of monthly discussions about books that related to management, leadership, and business. The events are free, and everyone is invited, whether or not you have read the book.
Spotlight Series
Year-Long Series
Every month, the Chamber will feature – or “spotlight” – a different member company in its newsletter. The segment will have its own place in the publication, and it will highlight a member’s presence in the business community.
Teacher of the Year
April
The Teacher of the Year celebrates education in our community and is the Chamber Foundation’s marquee event. At the awards dinner, the Chamber names the public Teacher of the Year who then represents Washington County in Maryland’s Teacher of the Year competition. There is a charge for this event.
Washington County Business Awards
February
The Business Awards program honors businesses that have achieved distinction in several categories and culminates with an awards ceremony in February where winners are announced “Academy Awards-style.” The awards are followed by entertainment. The program – jointly sponsored by the Chamber and the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission – gives us an opportunity to celebrate our entire business community. There is a fee charged to attend this event.
